When the US Marshals Serial Crimes Tracking Unit comes knocking at Aislinn Cain's door, she is given a chance to use her past to save other people's futures. She has survived attacks by two different serial killers and devoted her life to studying the darker side of human history.

A new killer is using medieval torture methods to slay his victims. She can give them a glimpse into his twisted world, but not without a cost. If she opens herself, she risks falling into the depths of her own darkness. Can she afford to help, knowing that the cost could be her own humanity?

  • Tortured Dreams.

While I enjoyed the book overall the fact that it was stated many times that one cannot scream without a tongue I became bothered and distracted. Enough that I had to stop reading at the moment to write this review.

Very good book story line is interesting! I’ve enjoyed both books I’ve read. Thanks k.
  • Meh

The book was hard to get through, and I gave up about halfway when nothing had happened yet. The protagonist explains the same things over and over, and although the topic sounds like it would be fascinating it reads more like a history lesson than a murder mystery.

Downloaded the first book in the series for free, ended up downloading the rest within the next week! Can't wait to see where the series takes us next!!
  • Such a great series!

Downloaded the first book in the series for free and a few days later went and bought the whole lot of them. Love the reality and frailty within the characters. The author teeters along the good guy/bad guy line perfectly. I couldn't stop reading.
  • Frustrating

Interesting premise, but the poor grammar of the "geniuses" is distracting. Also hard to follow the logic of the characters as they interpret clues. I made it to the midpoint, but abandoned the story due to lack of interest. Hire an editor who can put the pieces together.

Thoroughly enjoyable read. Proofreading could have caught a few grammatical and punctuation errors. Big boo-boo: it is JohnS Hopkins (with an S).

Amazing psychological thriller, very well written. It kept you intrigued until the very end. If you like a good murder mystery this is it. If you are squeamish about torture and serial killers then you may want to skip this one, if not read it! It's worth it.
